What a difference forty-eight hours make.

Forty-eight hours later I’m following him on Twitter and thanking him for taking a stand…

By sitting the fuck down.

Make no mistake, the NFL and the United States wasn’t ready for Colin Kaepernick.

Well tempered and eloquent is the best way to describe his response to the typical barrage of questions. The type of questions that induce eye rolling, tea sipping and meme creation from Black folk trying to #Staywoke.

In a series of four video clips compiled on Twitter was something to behold.

Less than four minutes.

That’s all it took for Colin Kaepernick to engage in verbal Jiu Jitsu and flip the script on a reporter’s assumption that sitting down for the national anthem was a attack on the U.S. military and veterans.

In less than four minutes he reminded us that BOTH presidential candidates aren’t exactly allies of African Americans.

His was a succinct breakdown of the marginalized, victimization, and systematic murder of Black and brown people by militarized police departments across this country.

And Colin Kaepernick is clearly not standing for it.
